Podcasts
Since starting a podcast in high school, I have been fascinated with the use of long-form interviews to convey stories. My first podcast was ‘The Stitches Podcast,’ produced with a few close friends giving our opinions on the latest happenings in Major League Baseball. While that podcast continued for the next several years, soon after I started attending college at Drake University, I began creating ‘The Bark’ podcast with a classmate, which provided updates about Drake sports throughout the week.
My mission when I started at WSAW in 2020 was to start another podcast featuring long-form interviews with the athletes and coaches around north central Wisconsin. That fall, I started producing the ‘Hilight Zone Podcast,’ which provides a long-form interview platform to our area high school athletes and professional athletes that isn’t able to exist in 30-minute, over-the-air television newscasts. In nearly four years of producing the podcast, my staff and I have produced 172 episodes featuring athletes like NASCAR drivers and local high school athletes. We won the 2021 Wisconsin Broadcasters Association award for Best Original Digital Content in small market television. Below is a feed of our latest podcast episodes and some of my favorite over the years.
